I’m an abstract contemporary artist based in the Kwazulu Natal Midlands of South Africa
I graduated with a diploma in 3 Dimensional Design at the University of Johannesburg in 2008 and I’ve been working as an industrial designer for the past 16 years. I started making abstract sculpture in 2025 out of a gradual discontent with the industry I’ve found myself in and a desire to create something out of pure self-expression as opposed to commercial necessity and all the requirements and constraints that come with it.
Both my parents are fine-artists and I grew up with a great deal of exposure to illustration, painting and sculpture
I’m interested in consciousness and the source and nature of our shared reality, and my work serves as a way of documenting my meditations and musings about consciousness. My work deliberately doesn’t depict any identifiable figures or subject matter. I seek to explore and describe concepts, emotions or aspects of our experiences through completely abstract form
My style is defined by expressive forms composed with clean geometry and texture, a strong sense of linear directional consistency, and bright single-tone colors
With my industrial design experience, 3D form has become my most competent form of self-expression. I’ve taken my background and experience into my art and make use of modern technology to design and produce my work, such as CAD software, 3D printing, composite resins, and advanced casting techniques
